I grew up in Virginia and attended The College of William & Mary with a BA in Cultural Anthropology and then did my graduate work at The University of Virginia with a Master's Degree in Teaching. After a detour to Alaska, I eventually ended up in Colorado where I live with my husband and three children. Teaching has always been a part of my life. . . even as child, I orchestrated art classes and summer camps for the little kids in my neighborhood. My first "real" teaching job was as an assistant in an elementary school, which then led to a position as a middle school Language Arts teacher.
After creating and teaching an SAT prep class for Boulder Valley School District, I realized that one-on-one was the way to most effectively prepare high schoolers to take these high-stakes tests. To help students navigate the stress of this time in their lives, I have also completed a 30-hour Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction for Teens program.

For my own stress-reduction, I love to hike in the mountains, camp with my family, do yoga, create art, and laugh with my friends.
